Canadians for Properly Built Homes Fall 2011 Vol. 5 No. 2 Greetings! Across Canada, according to media reports and complaints directly to Canadians for Properly Built Homes (CPBH), consumers continue to experience severely inadequate consumer protection when purchasing a newly built home. While there are good builders in Canada, consumers still have no reliable, objective means of knowing who the good builders are. Serious issues include shoddy construction, unresponsive builders, inadequate inspections by municipalities during construction, inadequate new home warranty, and concerns with the qualifications of private home inspectors. I salute the effort for properly built homes, but it's against the tide, the quality of the new houses have only one direction to go, at least in Vancouver, when certain group of builders build $100 per square foot houses, and buyers love the price, I quit building new houses partly because of this. Even the high end houses are just bigger with more blings, the qualities are just as bad.
Now think of it, it's just like everything else in our life, only difference is it's a bigger ticket item. |
