I am so glad "Vern Mitchinson" stuck through the first portion and now others can take over. Ontario has yet to recognize the value of 5-year veterans in the field of HI.
At least we have "Kim Smith" from HUB International to help on the insurance side and "Roy Cooke" on the HI side.
Too bad "OAHI" has put up a big wall for many and continues to cause confusion in the HI organization.

Thanks Mike for the credit but Dan is still the president. He just got a little upset one day but has resumed his duties and is doing an exemplary job. As a matter we both did but are now back in action.

The purpose of the CCHI is to provide a designation for HI's that have achieved a level of competence that will enable them to do home inspections, reports and presentation of that information. The review is very detailed and covers all three aspects of the inspection. We designed it to provide feed back to the applicant and help him/her if there were any area that they may be weak. It's a one on one review where the CMI monitors the inspector as he/she does the inspection. The process is designed to evaluate all the procedures the applicant does. His report is evaluated for content, accuracy and understandability. (all these things have been spelled out in the regulations). The presentation is reviewed and evaluated as well. Most of the court cases I've read are the result of the client not understanding what the HI presented and it ends up in the HI paying big bucks and is out of business. The evaluation of the presentation is aimed at preventing this. The extra effort will be worth while and the cost is almost the same.
The review is much more detailed and comprehensive then the CAHPI process. The CCHI is to recognize that achievement. It is the first step to full professional recognition. The CCHI will become more valuable and recognized as time goes by.
We have to start somewhere and this was an opportune time to do it.
Unfortunately there are some people that denigrate our efforts to improve our profession by trying to make it sound like it is not worth the effort.
It's up to the individual HI to contact a CMI and arrange for the review. Go to http://ab.nachi.org/cmialbertachapter/members.html to find a CMI trained to do the peer review and get your CCHI.
