Default Church Inspection

I have a meeting tomorrow with Springs Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba tomorrow @725 Lagimodiere ave. They have asked me to check out the church. The roof on the church has ice damming along the eaves and the downspouts are frozen right up. The building is 35,000 sq ft. I have not done an inspection of this size before. I was wondering if I could get some tips from some of my Nachi brothers. I was wondering what I should charge for this service? Any advice or helpful tips would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Jarrod Northage

Sounds like you will need a roofer and HVAC tech to help on that one. Probably the wrong time of the year for a good roof inspection. Always give church's a discount but that one could take a few days of work plus report time.

Just curious by why do I need a roofer and a hvac tech? Can I not just do the inspection and note/ take pics of what I see, Then perhaps consult with them?
Unless thats what you're refering to.

Not a typo, It could very well be complicated, or it could be a simple fix, I don't know that yet. They also asked to have the ceiling scanned with the infrared as well, I'm just trying to come up with some suitable numbers, it is a Church so I don't want to high ball them, but I don't want to leave myself short. Being a massive Church with a huge congragation, could be good for business.

Don't get caught up in looking at issues they already know about and failing to look at all areas of the roof for other issues.

A church that size could have lots of inaccessible attic areas or no attic due to vaulted ceilings or it could have an attic the size of texas. Hard job to price, some churches have crawlspaces the size of texas too. (down here, crawlspaces are under the house, some areas up north call attics "crawlspaces")

We just had a good melt a couple of days ago, it hit -11 and was sunny, but we've had a lot of snow this winter I could only assume there is until I inspect it.

I wouldn't discount ANYTHING!!! My past experiences doing various work for churches is that when you go to pick up your check they will try to get you to donate about 1/2 of the fee. Why? Because they are a church that's why!!! It has never failed to happen when I do work for Churches. Be Prepared for this!!!

Ironic as it seems, I'm doing a church inspection tomorrow morning! I'm handling this like a project manager where I'll conduct a general inspection of all and recommend specific professionals as I see fit. Owing to the snow, I'm inspecting the inside and will do the outside when the white stuff melts away.

I'm billing this on a hourly fee and not a set price.

Good luck

Come on, Raymond!! I'm using the THREE AMIGOS THREE I'S method of spreading "Fact"...........INSINUATION---INFERENCE---INNUENDO.

See post #5....."Being a massive Church with a huge congragation, could be good for business."......Sounds like success to me....some of these larger "Gospel" or "Evangelical" churches are making the pastors lots of $$$$. Just watch some "VISION" TV just about any day!!
