That's right, George, it would not have been too late south of the border, it was unavailable at any price. It has nothing to do with timing.
Unavailable anywhere, or just in Detroit? Good points, George, but then why is our economy in so much better shape than America's?. The spread between rich and poor is much wider down there. " so much better"? The guys formerly employed in the auto industry might disagree. I'd have to ask where you get your numbers to back that up ( not disputing just asking for sources) Remember that the Canadian Economy tends to lag the American by 6 - 12 months. The bottom line is that government, whether they are Republican or Democrat, Liberal or Conservative have all screwed it up. Our kids and grandkids are inheriting a total mess, Agreed and agreed! The problem is that politicians know that if they give us back our money we will vote for them. The one who gives out the most cash wins ! And we keep voting the buggers in. and I don't see anyone on the horizon with the vision to make it all better. There's always you and me Bill ! |

Fellow Businessmen/Executives:
As the CFO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a significant way. To compensate for these increases, I determined that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8%. However, since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, I will have make necessary cuts in other areas. Among other belt tightening steps, it's been determined that I will have to lay off eight of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. Obama supporters spoke loud and clear that they wanted change; I gave it to them. If you have a better idea, let me know. "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill |

Seems like firing someone for their political affiliation would be good grounds for a law suit.
