Everyone wants to be the King Of The Hill what we need to all do is sit around the bottom of the hill and figure out a way we can all coexist on somewhat of a level playing feild , look as bad as gas prices are hurting my wallet we here in the states have it alot better than some places . Industrialization has taken away jobs ,we've come full circle yea in the beginning it was great everyone working makng money now thats not so . Technology is leaving alot of people in very long lines.

That puts us at about 12% (at $4.00/gal)

Hmmm, I thought by definition industrialization (development) would create jobs?

industrialization doesnt mean what bit used to. When a new factory or plant opens up it doesnt necessarily bring more jobs usually just more products everything is ran with alot less man power the bottom line is what is most important and trust me its not mine or yours that these companies are worried about. Thats my slant look you guys running your own show great job im sure you worked hard and got to a comfortable place , but its getting hharder to do that.

Kevin,

A new factory (your example) will bring in how many new jobs? The answer is certainly not zero. Someone has to at least turn the machines on.

Who designed that factory?
Provided materials for that factory?
Who builds that factory?
Sweeps the floor?
Maintains the machines?

Yes, many jobs are now automated, but jobs were also created - jobs to develop, build and maintain the machinery that is doing what a human used to do.

Don't take it personal Kevin.

Let's hear your ideas but don't expect everyone to accept them without rational argument.

Would we be able to feed the world or engage in commerce without "fuel"?

We have put our selves into that situation where we have to have the fuel now its not an option your right ,without it we would not be able to do those things without fuel .But as i said thats because we've come full circle.
