Ray, you were right. I'm surprised. One B. Harris of the the 2007 CAHPI National Conference Committee informed us today that we are not welcome.

CAHPI and OAHI are in breach of their bylaws.

Funny thing is... NACHI draws a crowd. http://www.nachi.org/torontolive/ We could have had a big fun event with them.

Hi Nick
There are big divisions in CAHPI-OAHI and there will be further divisions in the new year. Members are catching on very quickly as to how OAHI operates, we have seen their underhanded tactics, there misfeasance with the financial affairs, and rampant and wanton abuse of the bylaws. This abuse will only drive more members to NACHI. Given what I witnessed at the Toronto Home Show this past weekend where many OAHI Students approached the booth and expressed their disapproval of of how OAHI had treated them, and the continual costly requirements OAHI always had in store left them frustrated and angry. Word is getting out and OAHI can no longer afford to be smug. Time will prove me right once again and OAHI has had its day in the sun. Now the sun seems to be setting on them. With the help of people like Tom Lloyd, and his zealots on the board, and the BOE run by Terry Carson and his side kick committee members they have no one to blame but themselves. They have run it as their private fiefdom for too long and have plundered the treasury for their own selfish gains. The bigger question is, does NACHI want to be associated with an Association that cannot account to the members the proper and actual truth about the finances? |

I expect there could be questions asked about how they can be so small . NACHI gives them a free both at the bigest Home Inspectors conference ever held in Canada they do no show. NACHI wants to come to their conference and they refuse . This will be interesting to see how many show up for the CAHPI/OAHI. The place this conference is owned by the same company that owns the one on the west coast where they held the BC CAHPI Conference . I don't know anything about other associations much. In a recent lawsuit filed by the do-nothing association out of Minneapolis, our staffers all testified that they are ordered to never go on another association's website.
I learned this trick when I was U.S.'s youngest Research Analyst at an atom smashing nuclear facility. I used to get research reports from the old Soviet Union. I would take a blank piece of paper and cover the report so that it only revealed the first sentence. Then I would try to do the research the way I though the experiment should be done. If I ran into trouble, I'd slide the paper down revealing another sentence, but otherwise, I'd try to figure out what is best to do without looking. Most of the time I ended up with great experiments that lead to greater experiments without ever duplicating the USSR's work. This is the advice I give to all smaller associations. Don't look at NACHI too much and don't fear NACHI. Try to create some benefits and tools that are of use to inspectors. Do that enough times and your association will grow. Look at NACHI in fear and anger, and your association will die. Nick Gromicko, Certified Master Inspector Find a Home Inspector "Just as iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another." For example: The little do-nothing association out of Minneapolis was such a copycat that it is often referred to in the states as ASHI-lite and ASHI's little sister. Big Mistake!
Despite ASHI having a 20 year head start on us, NACHI was able to pass them and become the biggest and best because we didn't look left or right. We won the race even though our competitor had a 20 year head start, so I think I know something about winning. If you play follow the leader, you follow forever. My advice to the other associations is to try to think outside the box and come up with something helpful to our profession, and then don't financially exploit it to death. Make it reasonable. Not a thing in www.nachi.org/success.htm was stolen from any other association and almost all of it is free. An association has to stand on its merits (just like an inspector has to in his market). Try to do that which lifts the (mostly small) businessmen that make up our industry... and they will join in great numbers and gladly renew year after year after year. This is a plan for success. I hope it helps. Nick Gromicko, Certified Master Inspector Find a Home Inspector "Just as iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another." CAHPI-OAHI has no one to blame but themselves. At every turn they have been the author of their own misfortune.
What you say has some truth to it. CAHPI-OAHI does look at NACHI in fear and anger, thats very evident and has been proven time and time again. |

Nick;
C.M.H.C. needs to know that N.A.C.H.I. has been refused a table at the convention despite the fact that another organization has apparently been welcomed. THEY MUST BE TOLD THAT C.A.H.P.I. / O.A.H.I. is not cooperating with the largest Home Inspection organization in Canada despite being charged otherwise. C.M.H.C. must be told by you Nick. You need to call in your markers and make an issue of this for your Canadian members. |
