Mold Training Course

How to Recognize Indoor Mold, Develop Effective Sampling Strategies, Interpret Laboratory Results and Perform Effective Mold Remediation


This course has been granted approval for the following credits: The ABIH has approved this course for 1.00 CM point for CIHs and CAIHs (Approval #06-990).The Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists has approved this course for 1.00 maintenance point (Award 2006-11).With increasing public awareness of the health effects of mould in buildings there is need for building professionals and those impacted by mould growth in buildings to have solid knowledge on how to recognize indoor mould, how to develop effective sampling strategies, how to interpret laboratory results and how to perform effective mould remediation/abatement.

    Various mould remediation guidelines are discussed with emphasis to Mould Guidelines for the Canadian Construction Industry (2004).

Course Directors

Jackson Kung'u, B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD: Jackson is the Principal Microbiologist, Mold & Bacteria Consulting Laboratories (MBL) Inc. He has over 17 years practical experience in mycology (the study of moulds and yeasts) with proven knowledge of biosystematics including demonstrated ability to identify moulds to species level. He is knowledgeable in microbial ecology and physiology. He has analyzed thousands of mould samples from across Canada. He obtained his M.Sc.(Fungal Technology) and PhD (Microbiology) training from the University of Kent in the UK. Jackson is a member of the Mycological Society of America and the ASTM International.
Invited Speakers: We occasionally invite guest speakers who specialize in Mould Remediation.


Logistics & Lunch

The course breaks for lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Lunch is not provided.

Course Fee

The course fee is NOW $195.50 (plus GST) if paid 2 weeks in advance or $245.50 (plus GST) if paid during registration. Our regular fee is $495.00 plus GST. To reserve a place, please pay the course fee at least two weeks before the course date. Payment can be made by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or by cheque. Please make cheques payable to Mold & Bacteria Consulting Laboratories (MBL) Inc.


Cancellation Policy:

Substitutions (in writing) are welcome anytime, but please notify us as soon as possible.

Early cancellations (more than two weeks prior to the course date):
Refund of the registration fee paid, less a 25% processing charge.

Late cancellations (less than two weeks prior to the course date):
Refunds cannot be issued for late cancellations.

Course Cancelled: If, for any reason, MBL cancels a course, your entire registration fee will be refunded.
Please Note: To avoid inconvenience, and to ensure you will receive a copy of the relevant training documents for this course, please pre-register by phone no later than 48 hours before the program is due to start.
