I started a home inspection business, my competition was, Mike Guin, the president of CAPHI. I was told, that I was in over my head, and that is my business were to succeed, then I would have to join. Two years later, I am doing around 25% of the home inspections in the area. When asked how I did it, i told them, I sold myself, not an organization. People use my service because I am a damn good Home Inspector, not because I belong to some Organization.

I did not know that "Mike Guihan" lived in your area. My understanding CAHPI President Mike lives in Newfoundland. Is it the same guy?

Thats where I started out my Inspection career, in Newfoundland. St. Johns.
I worked with a company named Optimum Home Inspections.
I moved to Barrie Ontario Later.

OAHI and CAHPI are their own worst enemy. I did a search and compiled a mailing list of all the inspection companys listed in on the yellow page web site in Alberta. There are 86 of then. Some have more them one inspector. Say 100 inspectors NACHI has 24 members. CAHPI has about the same. Many are members of both associations. That leaves 75 that are not affiliated with either Assoc.
I mailed an Alberta chapter meeting notice out to every one of them.
Hopefully they attend the meeting on FEB 16, 06.
They will find out how helpfull it is to belong to a positive organization that NACHI is.
