Jason
I don't think anyone one should rule out anything when it comes to the climate. It seem there is more evidence from the experts supporting the change than there is information disproving it. |

I think WMD are germane, after all nuclear tests and detonations, and war all contribute more than their fare share of green house gases, not to mention other toxic substances. |

Is that your answer to climate change? wait till we lose a few million people, not to mention plants and animals, then say Opps! we screwed up, turns out climate change is real, and man was a significant contributor to it. Sh**, we should have done something about it when we could have...... Oh well, carry on boys, where's the next issue that we can do nothing about till it's to late..... </IMG> |

Are you familiar with the precautionary principle? "When we could have" What can we do-what is the cost -what else could be done instead and more cost effectively? |

I do disagree but you said you had done a lot of research on this issue. I will post various articles and research but after I have given you first crack at it. Here is a teaser for you. 144. We welcome the Government’s recognition of the central role of economics in considering climate change. But we believe that the Chancellor needs to broaden the scope of the Government’s interests, and the Treasury’s interests in particular, in aspects of the climate change debate that we feel have not yet been given sufficient emphasis (para 2). 145. We are concerned that the links between projected economic change in the world economy and climate change have not been as rigorously explored as they should have been by the IPCC. We believe the complex interactions between world economic growth and climate change need additional scrutiny at the international level, and that the UK Government has a role to play in ensuring that this happens. We are also concerned that clearer messages should be conveyed to the public about the likely costs and benefits of climate change control, who will bear those costs and benefits, and when (para 2). 146. We are not convinced that there is sufficient public awareness of the economics of climate change. Any public misperception on these issues could threaten the political feasibility of getting plans of action put into effect. If climate change is as serious as most scientists claim, and as the Government accepts, then it is important to convey the complementary message that the action to tackle it will also have to be serious and potentially life-changing. It is better to be honest now than to shield the public from the economic realities inherent in the more pessimistic forecasts (para 3). Last edited by mlarson; 1/17/07 at 7:30 PM.. No Raymond, I had no interest back then. I came to appreciate debate and discussion much later in life. I am concerned that people have lost the ability to think for themselves and rely far too much on others opinions without forming their own.

Just because one's opinion doesn't mesh with your own, does not mean they cannot think for themselves. Geez Micheal, get over yourself. |

But, I think you have already done that and formed an opinion of your own, so no need for me to try and sway you. I have no interest in "engaging" you. |
