Inform builder that the water from the roof needs to be kept away from foundation wall.
Am informed (ignominiously) that the Ontario Building Code and TARION construction performance guidelines require builders to do no more than install downspout splash blocks to protect the foundations.
He quotes OBC “9.26.18.2 Where downspouts are provided and are not connected to a sewer, extensions shall be provided to carry rainwater away from the building in a manner that will prevent soil erosion” and goes on to quote Tarion CPG 5.22 “Where provided, eavestroughs and downspouts shall collect water from the roof and drain it to grade. Where downspouts are not connected to a sewer, extensions shall be provided to carry rainwater away from the building in a manner that will prevent soil erosion.”
Someone forgot to define the word “Away” sufficiently clearly, apparently.
