James, what part of that great American system called democracy do you not understand? One man. One Vote ( well excepting Chicago of course) This sytem is responsible for electing some pretty good Presidents over the years. Just because one party has it's hat handed to it, does not mean that they take their marbles and go home, or actively attempt to destroy the administration ( with the exception the last eight 'Bush years')

American system?

Did you really just post that here, in the Canadian forums???

While hearing opinions from everyone is always good, could we please try to remember that America is not the only country in the world, and the way it does things does not define the rest of the world.

Or at least keep that attitude out of the specifically Canadian forums?

Tom I am sure, that with your extensive reading you are aware of two things;
1- Our American friends have a Republic going on down there
and
2 - They are justifiably proud of their democratic ideals.
sorry three things
3 - This 'Canadian forum' is operated by an American, living in America, and hosted on and American network.

Why are some of my Canadian brothers so thin skinned that they are offended by any positive statement made about our good American Friends?

Some "Industry Leaders" have been running around spreading what turns out to be a completely inaccurate claim. I will leave you to decide why he might do this but it is an excellent example of the 'scare tactics' to which Allen referred.

MR. RUDOLF REUSSE recently wrote to OREA and asked for a clarification on the claim made by Laura Leyser and some 'Industry Leaders' that OREA was going to send it's legions of Realtors ( a claimed 40,000 in all) in an attempt to force licensing on all Inspectors in Ontario.
Hmmmmm. Someone was fibbing

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Reusse:

Pauline Aunger, President of OREA, has asked me to respond to your email. Ms. Aunger is presently out of the country.
Laura Leyser is a respected past president of the Ontario Real Estate Association, however she no longer sits on our Board of Directors and therefore she does not have any official capacity to represent our association with regard to home inspectors. Any activities she engages in with home inspectors or opinions she expresses with regard to home inspectors are strictly her own.
Ms. Leyser does currently sit as a Director of the Canadian Real Estate Association. Our association cannot comment on her role there. I suggest you address that directly with the Canadian association.

Well George,

That american who did all that, specifically made a Canadian Forum which is the only one I choose to post in, partly to avoid having conversations about how great (or not) the US is.

As for the rest, perhaps you misunderstood... I was not objecting to anything an american did, I was objecting you stating that democracy was an american system. Perhaps you should read some more history...

As for being thin skinned. I don't think it is too much to ask that you discuss issues about the US in the US section of the forum.

What's with you newbies not wanting to discuss something about the U.S.here.
We have discussed everything here for years. The Canadian forum was not created for Canadians it was created for Raymond and Roy and their wars so it wouldn't pollute the rest of the board. Overtime it became ours to do with what we wish. If you do not want to hear about Yankee rhetoric then ignore that thread. But do not tell the rest of us what we can and cannot post here.
Now that is of my chest. Welcome to the board.

Tom, the nice thing about this message board is that you are entitled to have your opinions right or wrong. Another nice thing is that we are completely free to totally ignore them!!

Anyway, as Gerry said, welcome to the board. You'll get used to us. You'll even get used to James!

No, actually I will not get used to people who spout opinions and sales pitches as facts, or outright fallacies as facts.

But perhaps you will get used to me calling bull**** on bull****...

I respect you opinion, but not your language.

Please understand two things;

1 - Organizing something this big involves a lot of people and a lot of negotiations. All of those involved in the process have asked that they not be named until negotiations are complete and the entire package is ready for presentation to the public. I realize that you have an 'Inquiring mind' but you must realize that circumstances prevent revelation of privileged information.

2 - It is obvious that you are a very passionate man and are very concerned with the future of the industry. But you must understand that every inspector is equally valuable and none are more privileged than any other. To reveal information to you simply because you can make intemperate remarks on the INTERNET would insult every one of the many inspectors who have Emailed us and asked for information. As they have been told, there will be an E-news letter coming out in the near future as this project matures. Should you want to receive it please reply to the Email address below and when we are able to make an announcement you will be informed at the same time as your brother inspectors. You see Tom, in this organization all inspectors are valued equally.

On a personal note Tom, I am sorry that the prospect of a new vision for this industry has upset you so. Fortunately for our mental state, the vast majority of replies we have received are diametrically opposed to yours. That being said, I hope that you can put your anger aside long enough to await the official launch of the CONFERENCE OF COMMERCIAL AND INDEPENDENT HOME INSPECTORS. Maybe you will be able to see the positive of this union for home inspectors and join us. Dissenting opinions like yours will only make us stronger and you will never be thrown out of this organization for expressing them.

ANY INTERESTED INSPECTORS ARE INVITED TO SEND US AN EMAIL AT;
