I just checked the list of licenced Home Inspection businesses and Sears is not listed so they are not licenced in Alberta at lease not as Sears.
The regulations in Alberta calls for the business to carry the insurance, bonding and pay for the licence. The owner of the business does not have to be a qualified HI.
The Inspector has to be qualified and employed by a licenced business before he/she can get a licence. The individual inspector does not pay any fees or carry any insurance.
The business has two weeks to notify the government if the inspector stops working for the Business.
The regs also demand that the HI can not do any Home Inspections unless he is employed by a licenced business.
