They need to put on a course for residential kitchen exhaust (bathrooms also) systems as I see crap every day, even in high end homes. (in the last 2 years, new 1.3 and 1.5 million homes I inspected did not even have bath fans that met code; the 1.5 mill home at 11 month warranty inspection had 5 bath fans at 5.5 sones [code is 2 or less] and 1 fan was dead!!!)

One out of 50-70 homes I inspect has a decent kitchen exhaust system. Bath systems...... probably 1 in 100 are what I would call a good system.

Mario, I think I'm coming to this one. I've been writing a little booklet on commercial kitchen inspections to go with www.nachi.org/comsop.htm.
