Somehow, I have just always figured tax time in Canada to be little more than someone from your government getting on the radio/television and saying "Okay, folks. It's time to mail in all of your blue money." or something uncomplicated like that...

What does a professional engineer know about inspecting homes?

What does a professional engineer know? Too much...

The point I am trying to make is that if your business situation, like mine, is fairly simple then paying a CA a couple of thousand dollars is a waste of money.

For the same reason you don't hire a professional engineer to do a home inspection, they are over qualified and too expensive.

This is from a person who has been doing inspections for a few years.
Strange no matter how often the experienced HI says this some one always tries to say we are wrong and are only trying to keep us ( new wish to be inspectors out of the industry .)
In my area we have about 18+ inspectors and only three are able to make a living at it .
I think we had about 5 leave the industry in the last three years and about 10 start.

Roy agree I have only put in 4 years as inspector compaired to some but when you take a look at the number of inspectors in my area there are more than enough.14 Nachi members 9 RHI and who knows how many others, but have been told there are over 40 in 1 hour drive of here and most are doing inspections for under $275. Which makes it real hard to get the work never mined raise the price to where it should be. We even have an RHI doing then $310 and kick backs to the agents and these are the ones who are getting most of the work so you either join or loose out on the work. I personaly do not and will not give kick backs to agents so I do the best inspection I can in hope for referals.

I would like someone to figure out my hydro bill. I am using less energy but paying more. It seems most of the bill is debt retirement and other fees. But I am still using less energy! Arrrrrrrrgh.
