Our attorneys were about to bury this nut in litigation, take his home, and turn it into another NACHI hands-on training center for inspectors.

I don't want to read his long message. What was the libel issue?

Well he does make some pretty big unsubstantiate comments on his site.
Seeing as he is a member of BCIPI which is ASTT(BC) which is the parent association which has been threatening Nachi members who use CHI I think and I would suggest that Nachi send a very strongly worded lawyers letter to BCIPI and ASTT complaining about this members statements which seem to be at odds with the policies and the COE of these two associations. After all this inspector has relied on hear-say from another person and published that hear-say as gospel. In any eventuality he obviously cannot defend what he stated otherwise he would have held fast. Seeing as he has now reconsidered he obviously has not been entirely truthful. Even without a Realtor touting this persons services there is no way I would allow as a vendor this chap in my house for 7 hours. You can be dam sure he is a nit picker, and just looking to justify his overated self esteem. I guess BCIPI and ASTT like to throw their weight around about their designation, but it would also appear they to as an organization have their fair share of mules! From what I can read and find on this site, the ASTT act provides only for designations under the Act. It does not appear that BCIPI is a body granted authority under any Provincial Act but rather is a sub group set up by ASTT.
Now maybe someone in BC would like to correct me or add their opinions or know of an Act representing BCIPI. If there is no specific legislation then BCIPI would appear not to have the weight it assumes it does under ASTT. Opinions anyone? I am always willing to be challenged and corrected! Just a comment...
From what I have read here (not from any of the links). His service sounds great for the person who wants to case several homes to rob them. 1] photo's during an Open House (do they have anything good to take.) 2] report of all defects (now they know how to enter the home or is there is an alarm system.) 3] no ties to any purchase agreements to connect them to the robbery. 4] by giving him false name, etc. he could be left as the fall guy for any robbery.
