Default Water heater age help please

Cascade electric 40 gal. water heater age please.

TPR missing verbiage is this sufficient? The TPR valve is missing. This is a safety concern. Suggest installing required temperature pressure relief valve as a safety measure prior to closing.

Thanks

Most likely made by GSW in Ontario (now owned by A O Smith of the US). If so, year would be 02/month- January

My guess would be 2001 or 2002.

· Safety Issue:For safety reasons, we recommend that you have a temperature and pressure relief (TPR) valve installed on the water heater immediately. The lack of such a valve is a safety concern.

Nice graphic Marcel.

Scott, personally I don't like the word "concern" in this and other hazardous situations. I would choose a 'stronger' word to help with the client understanding the seriousness of the problem.

Realtor translation:

Concern... I am concerned that you may get an ow-ey if you don't install a TPRV in the future.

Hazard... You will blow up and die if you don't install a TPRV immediately.

Just sayin'.

Good one Jeff nice analogy! I will change it to reflect that. I have already spoke to the client and warned him during the inspection. I asked him to google water heater blow up on youtube...it is very enlightening. Thanks for the help Marcel!!!
Thanks Guys!!

Go to for some spectacular WH rockets; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv178...eature=related and another spectacular rockethttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68p4n...eature=related or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bU-I2ZiML0
Send your clients to these sites after explaining what can happen when the TPR and the thermostat malfunction.
I could not find it but another TV show called "breaking point" exploded a 40 gal WH inside a 900 sq ft post war II house. The House was totally demolished. Because the WH was inside confining the energy caused a lot more damage then the open side in the myth busters video

Thanks Vern for the info, I did send a link to the customer from Mythbusters yesterday. I have also placed an informative picture of the TPR and two links on my site as to what can happen on pressure buildup.
