Has anyone ever used both test at the same time? I am curious as to how acurate the simple carbon testers are vs the expensive monitor.

Yes.
I used a liquid synth along with my crm. They were both within 1/10 of a pCi from each other. I've also used two crms side by side with similar results. In my opinion, under identical conditions, and under proper protocols they are equally accurate. I prefer a crm because they are much harder to tamper with, which is virtually essential for a real estate transaction., the liquit Oh BTW, as to cost the liquid synth monitors are about $60.00 for a box of two of them. It doesn't take too many tests to pay for a CRM. Especially when you consider you get the crm results immediately and you have to wait a week for the other.
