Jim has decided to weirdly make much of the fact that InterNACHI members who use this tool are in competition with members who don't.

As if InterNACHI members aren't already in competition with other local members.

As if InterNACHI members who sign up for www.OverSeeIt.com (all InterNACHI members BTW) aren't in competition with members who don't.

As if InterNACHI members who add ancillary services using www.nachi.org/ancillary.htm (all InterNACHI members BTW) aren't in competition with members who don't.

As if InterNACHI members who use the www.MoveInCertified.com program for seller inspections (all InterNACHI members BTW) aren't in competition with members who don't.

As if InterNACHI members who join www.IAC2.org (all InterNACHI members BTW) aren't in competition with members who don't.

I don't mind Jim pointing out the obvious, but I can't stand it when he points out the over-obvious.

Gosh...that's a frightening thought. A company designed to find jobs for guys who do "not know anything about commercial inspections".

Seriously, it bothers me to see NACHi compete against its own members.

I know that, technically, we are not really a home inspection association....just a brokerage for vendor discounts.....but there is something very exploitive when the corporation alleged to help you advance in your business says "work for me or compete against me, your choice". The marketing resources certainly favor the brokerage...er...association.

Is Cominspect a not-for-profit company?

I would need to know more about this before I could comment I guess, but it does sound a little fishy.

Yes.

As is the company that owns www.FetchReport.com that provides free report uploading services to all InterNACHI members.

As is the company that owns www.NACHI.TV which provides free education to all InterNACHI members.

As is the company that owns Inspector's Quarterly www.nachi.org/iqfall2008.htm which is free to all InterNACHI members.

As is the company that owns www.InspectorPAGES.com that provides free websites and free hosting forever to all InterNACHI members.... a real profit center for me personally .

Jim you sure like those uphill climbs, don't ya?

Why in the world would do you make the ASSumption that all these for-profit companies that provide stuff like free report upload services exclusively to InterNACHI members, free signs and trade show banners exclusively to InterNACHI members, free marketing material exclusively to InterNACHI members, free books exclusively to InterNACHI members, free IAC2 membership exclusively to InterNACHI members, free video education exclusively to InterNACHI members, free online commercials exclusively to InterNACHI members, free Inspector's Quarterlys exclusively to InterNACHI members, free websites exclusively to InterNACHI members, free hosting exclusively to InterNACHI members, free microwave oven meters exclusively to InterNACHI members, etc... make a profit?

Forget taking Law 101, take an accounting 101 course.

"ComInspect's goal is to corner the commercial inspection market for InterNACHI members and to provide InterNACHI members with commercial inspection jobs, forms, subcontractors, marketing tools and free insurance."

The funds to this "for profit" company cannot come from "not for profit" NACHI and the expenses of providing these services for whoever participates will be considerable.

Where does the money come from?

Jim asks:
Quote:
Where does the money come from?
The same place the money comes from for funding the companies that provide stuff like free report upload services exclusively to InterNACHI members, free signs and trade show banners exclusively to InterNACHI members, free marketing material exclusively to InterNACHI members, free books exclusively to InterNACHI members, free IAC2 membership exclusively to InterNACHI members, free video education exclusively to InterNACHI members, free online commercials exclusively to InterNACHI members, free Inspector's Quarterlys exclusively to InterNACHI members, free websites exclusively to InterNACHI members, free hosting exclusively to InterNACHI members, free microwave oven meters exclusively to InterNACHI members, etc.

And the money is only a small part of it. The work that goes into these operations far exceeds any monetary investment. I'll give you an example. Chris developed the entire www.InspectorPages.com system himself at night, sometimes working all night. He maintains it for free too. Again, you figure out how much money he is making providing InterNACHI members with free websites, free maintenance, and free hosting, for all these years.

You won't need a calculator to determine his bottom line.

MOTTO for "The BROTHERHOOD":

"Brothers helping Brothers compete against Brothers"

MOTTO for "the VENDORS":

"The more Brothers we can produce easily and cheaply on these boards, the more Consumers we have for OURSELVES (the important ones)......well, at least for the 2-3 years they may get to play Home Inspector"

Remember.....these days......just about anyone can be a home inspector.....just ask Nick!!!

In lieu of the fact that InterNACHI doesn't take paid advertisers, not even a banner ad, who pockets all the money saved on all these vendor discounts: www.InspectorMALL.com ????
