Up until last week there were TWO different contending “in house” NACHI Commercial courses that were being worked on (for 5-months) and considered for our membership.
As I explained to our members and guests at our 08-29-2007 State Chapter meeting, apparently one vendor has realized that it is financially impossible to present their 3-day Commercial & Thermal Imagining course for the impossibly low price of $199.00. All other Educational vendors are charging approximately $700.00 and up for just the Basic Commercial course. The Thermal Imaging course is a separate entity and does not even enter into the picture for that price.

Nick and I have discussd putting on the best possible course, for the best price, in the shortest time period possible. That's the plan. Hotels, food, travel, and car rentals are expensive for all of us. I am trying to be sensitive to these facts. The idea is to get this into the hands of many. I'd like to hit 2 cities per month through the winter, if possible. It will be up to Nick and the chapters who want to work with me on this. We're trying to roll it into the Reward Without Risk program.
As to the course, I have been consolidating and condensing all pertinent information into a single, cohesive, meaningful, no-fluff, no-BS presentation which will present information at the speed and intensity of Certified Well Sampler. The difference with Commercial is no test at the end. It's pretty much ready to go... today! As to actual timing, we are feveriously working to condense it into a single, long(er) day. The information presented attacks and dissects 2018-01. The standard is presented in a manner that everyone gets. Course materials will be provided in a CD format, to enable us to keep the overall costs down. We will not be handing out a 1000 page book to every student. The morning session deals with reality, and the applicability of the ASTM standard. Commercial Inspections (the course) teaches one how to CONFORM, and successfully execute the PROCESS of performing a real commercial inspection. Everone should already know that commercial inspections come in all shapes and sizes. 2018-01 provides the FORMAT and CONSISTENCY needed to maintain compliance. We touch on all of it, including ADA and what it means for inspectors. We discuss scopes of work, statements of work, evaluations, team building, liability, and report writing. Lots of infrmation. Just dont blink... After going through the standard, we review a variety of commercial inspection scenarios, with lots of class interaction. I cannot wait to take this on the road. It will be available on CD for those who wont be able to attend a physical class. I scrapped the initial version of the CD in favor of more narration, as opposed to simple reading. Regardless, I believe the course gives new and experienced inspectors the tools they need to get the job done, and remain in compliance with the ASTM standard. We even speak to applicability of the NACHI SOP in the standard. As fast as I'm writing this, is as fast as the course progresses. With a downturn in residential inspections, this course is timely and relevent for all of us. Last edited by jfarsetta; 9/5/07 at 1:46 AM.. |

This way you can get those from Upper NY.Pennsylvania and Ontario Canada , This would be about a three hour drive for all. Canadains driving to the USA do not ( and it looks like will not ever ) need a passport. Drivers Lic with Picture and Birth certificate is all you need . I am sure you could be surprised how quick the Class will fill. ...
