I have an inter city furnace model# NHGE100DH01, SN N933130156 (mfg 1990). The furnace does not reach temp set on thermostat. Observing the furnace I noticed the fan runs constantly, the gas will come on for approx. 3-4 mins then shut off for 3-41/2 mins, then cycle again. Doesn't seem to deliver any real amount of heat in that 3 - 4 mins. Is this normal? When I turn the thermostat down to it's lowest point the fan will shut off.

It is called short-cycling, not normal.

Thanks for the reply. I can feel good about talking to a tech here in Denver and explain the problem and that it is not normal.
