[ASKNACHI]This question was posted on [I]AskNACHI.org[/I] by [B]Dennis Robb[/B] (from Annapolis, Maryland). [/ASKNACHI]I am looking for a home inspector that is qualified to determine if a post and beam structure has any structural issues. The home structure is built with large cedar posts and beams and some on the third floor seem to have shifted and the checks in the beams seem to have grown.

I suggest you go to [URL="http://www.inspectorseek.com"]www.inspectorseek.com[/URL] and enter your zip code. Call the inspectors, and ask them their qualifications about post and beam construction. When you find one that meets your needs, hire him/her.

Another suggestion is to hire a structural engineer that can also give you a foundation certification.
