Would like to know if puting a fan and light combination above a bath tub with gfi protection is aloud by code and if so does it have to be 8 feet above the tub or can it be lower like 7 foot

When you say "code", I asume that you are referring to the local building codes, in your area.

Home inspectors do not comment on local codes because they very so much from area to area.

That being said, the current national codes and construction standards do not allow ceiling fan and light combinations (I assume you are referring to a regular ceiling type fan) above bathtubs or in shower enclosures. There are specailly designs recessed lights (like can lights) that are allowed for use in these areas, but they are sealed and have special gaskets to keep water out.
