Sorry,
They are repaired here in OUR country. Please spend your money on the Chinese crap and let us know how it works for you. Have you solicited any feedback from any infrared technology forums regarding these cameras?

My question is...Does RazIR offer training?

What good is an IR camera if you can't read and interpret it properly?
But repaired and re-calibrate in North Billerica Mass. A mere 1 hour ride for me.

And I was with Larry when he said it...

The camera is sent to China for repairs and may take a very long time to get it back.

Yes, Flir is a very popular manufacturer and it's a simple 20 minute drive, if I happen to run into any issues with my ThermaCam B-2.

They are my neighbors.

Worth repeating....

Scott Wood works for FLIR. Of course he would talk down the RAZ-IR

I would bet that if you take any thermal camera apart the majority of the parts are made in chnia. (LCD screens resistors, injection moulded housings, batteries)

Before we spiral into a heated debated about this - lets step back and take a breath to reflect.

1. Virtaully every consumer electronic item you own is made in whole or in part in china.

2. Almost every consumer non-electronic item you own was made in whole or in part in china. ( i just checked my red Swingline Stapler....and sure enough it is made in China)

3. The fact is the chinnese clearly can produce all the products that you and I love better, cheaper and faster than any manufacture can in the United States of America.

4. Our 2 countries are inextricably linked. China is the ultimate producer and America is the ultimate consumer.

The real debate is not not USA vs. China - but the all american small business man vs. the large multinational corporate entities. I would venture that all of us involved in this discussion (including Scott) would be considered small business men.

I can understand the concerns, but i don't see any difference in buying a sweedish camera from a US company that stands behind it or a buying a camera made in China from a US company that stands behind it.

I came here looking for good advice and i thank you all. So far the consensus seems to be if you work for or were trained by ITC (FLIR) or if you live around the corner from them you tend to favor their products.

Everyone i've talked to who have a RAZ-IR, seems to like it -i guess the research continues...

Peace and Love,
Mark

Thanks guys. I have been digging around, and uncovered some very good information. Turns out the SPI salesman will say just about anything to get the sale, but the repair portion of their warranty and non-warranty concerns really stinks.

I also uncovered some pretty good data on its specifications. Although it appears to out-perform many of the other models, with the screen size and some other items, it doesn't appear to be applicable for the use that most of us would require.

I really appreciate all of the pm's, and other input!!!

Dave

Mark,
If you want an UNBIASED opinion about what cameras are out there and which ones to look into go to http://www.thesnellgroup.com/ and ask there. The info there is great!! They actually have a webinar on which camera for what application. Fluke, FLIR, Mikron, Hot Shot, Razor and a few others all have cameras. It is like Ford or Chevy some have more bells and whistles, some cost a bit more and some have better/different warranties and service records ( My camera has been in the repair facility once since I have owned it, is it a bad camera? No). Some manufacturers offer training and so do other organizations. You can take your Razor, Fluke, Mikron, Hot Shot to the FLIR facility and get the same training as the ones who purchased the FLIR, You can also take your FLIR to Snell and get the same training there.

Chuck
