Thanks David and Roy for mentioning us.

DUAL-VIEW is a great option for Infrared/Thermal Imaging reports. You can view a sample report here: http://www.dualviewsoftware.com/images/example.pdf

We do offer a 25% discount to NACHI members which makes the price of the software only $299. We actually have been running a $199 special that was set to end today, but to any NACHI member who places an order and mentions they saw this post on the forum I can extend that until 1/15/08.

If there are any questions feel free to give us a call or send me an email at asinger@dualviewsoftware.com.

Enjoy the New Year

Thanks, Marcel.

I was performing your latter suggestion, but the pics keep moving on me.

It can be a little tricky but you need to learn MS Word a little better.

There are settings in other formatting areas that move your pic's also. Some of that "auto" stuff has to be disabled.

I have been using Word for 12 years. Maybe we can tweak your setup.

They sometimes moves on me also but when I shrink its size they seem to behave better...

Perhaps danderson could teach us a thing or two about Word.

I do this stuff subconsciously now so I will first have to create what you guys are seeing. I will work on it when time allows and post there. I did have a computer "Fart" one day recently and I couldn't get the pic's to show up. They just weren't there. I found it was a program conflict with another program running at the same time. They would move all over the place then too (but not what you guys are seeing).

I will give a quick "how I do it" and you guys will have to work with it and let me know where your problems arise.

Open up word.
You need some buttons on your toolbar to speed things up.
Right click the toolbar and select "picture".
We want as a minimum "insert frame" and "insert picture". "Text wrapping" may come in handy but you can do the same thing by right clicking a picture that has been embedded in your Word document.

I always dictate my reports and cut and paste the issues into the Word document template. Then I add the photographs to the paragraphs.

Open up a space (several carriage returns "enter") in your document paragraph where you want to put photographs side by side.

Click (insert frame); left click and drag any size frame in the general vicinity where you want them to go. This will leave a dotted picture frame.
Make as many frames as you intend put in to the paragraphs side by side.

Click inside the desired picture frame to activate the frame.
Select (insert picture) button and locate the folder containing your pictures and select the picture you want in the frame by clicking on the thumbnail.
The pictures should be inserted within the frame. To adjust the size of the picture left click the picture and drag the corners of the picture to the desired fit. There are advanced options to maintain aspect ratios if things go crazy.

If you have problems the pictures not going where you want them at this point, double left click the photograph; click the layout tab; and select "square"; OK.

You should be able to move the picture around about anywhere at this point. If the picture jumps to one side of the form or the other, double left click the picture and in the "horizontal alignment" select" other". You should now be able to drag it anywhere.

If you want a picture automatically to the left or the right side of the paragraph in your report, select the option in "horizontal alignment" such as "left" " right" etc. this will lock the picture to the left side or the right side of your written paragraph.

Thanks David for your quick response. I will experiment with "frames" when time permits.

Thanks for the comment Charley and Kevin Just like you said, HIP does side by side photos and automatically resizes them so that they align nicely. Plus you have the edit photo options to annotate the photos from within the program. Then you can add your captions. Perfect for IR.

Do you have a program like Duel View that is for IR only .

I do not need a full home inspection type of Report as I am going to stay with the C&D Home Reference Book .

Cookie,

I've never looked at Dual View, I'll have to check it out.

You can make a template for Home Inspector Pro to do whatever you want. Like Charley said, he's working on a mold template right now on top of a home inspection and other templates. I've sold the program to people in Florida who are doing Wind Safe Inspections and are basically using the program just because they love the photo inserting and editing. Mark Timpani posted a report on the Home Inspector Pro site where he did a windows only inspection (they were all leaking badly). There's people doing home staging, boat inspections, and all sorts of other interesting stuff. Heck, like Russ Spriggs has suggested you could use it to do food inspections.

Send me a copy of what type of information you include in a IR report, preferably an actualy report, and I'll make the template for you. You can email it to me at Dominic@HomeInspectorPro.com. Then you can check it out and see if you like it. One of the great things I've noticed about most of the HIP users is that they are willing to share templates with each other, something that's pretty easy to do with the program.
