A total electrical home had a 200 amp external breaker below the meter base being fed from the pole with 1-0 Al wire. When I loaded up the amps with the water heater the dryer, the kitchen cooks stove and the heat pump this is what I got

Charley- Were you able to move the camera around and determine the source of the heating? This looks like a potentially much more serious of a problem then even what it shows. We don't have the source of the heating (the loose part). I would consider this an indirect temperature measurement. I would personally advise the customer to make sure that they fix that ASAP and don't sit on it.

If you don't mind, I would really like to look at that image more in it original format so I can tweak it some. You can send it to me via http://utterprecision.com/upload.

Godspeed!

Hi OJ I just caught your post I am in the middle of writing todays inspection report I will send the Pic tomorrow. Yes I do not sit on those types of images I personally called the service provider and they were sending an electrician out immediately as this was on their side of the service. The home was not occupied. I jacked the amps up when I located this and yes I did check from different angles same results. This was taken approximately 10:30 AM on the west exterior wall outside ambient was in the low to mid 60's. Camera was BX-320. My dertermination was loose connection and improper wire size.

Here all is what I found on this. Great job Charely. Especially on the call out for the electrician on this. Here is the pdf with my tweeking. Freedom Express Report

You did the very best that you can do with the equipment you have. I would strongly suggest recommending to your customer that you be allowed to perform a follow up on this to insure that is has been completely resolved. I've had industrial issues that hang around for years because the company didn't have a technology like infrared to follow up there repairs and they just never dug deep enough to completely solve the issue even when the original recommendation that was given was what they wound up finding out to be the problem. One time that almost cost a maintenance technician his life. And there is no dollar amount to replace that.

Godspeed!
