Would I have seen this without an IR scan? Maybe yes or maybe no (the pipe was a huge clue), it was painted and well camouflaged! I removed the small section of the 2x3 (wood) for the benefit of my client.
Thank goodness for emissivity differences and IR cameras! BTW This is a structural (support) column for the building; the Plumber didn't see it that way!
