I've had several occasions over the years when TREC employees have told me that they are told is not their place to interpret the requirements or to give any advice other than follow the requirements.

At times, knowing that I would not get direct answers to certain questions, I have instead asked whether or not the Commission is aware of certain things (such as inspection report software or lawsuites against inspectors) that deviate from the requirements. TREC has told me that while they will not comment on the deviations, they are aware of them.

TREC has historically not chased down minor deviations (and some major deviations) from the requirement. To the contrary, some of our inspection report competitors have deviated significantly from the requirements over the years and TREC has not intervened.

It is better to be safe than sorry. You never know when someone at TREC is going to feel very strongly about some minor point such as the use of capitalization or commas that are not needed. It is possible to create great looking, comprehensive, easy to read reports while staying within the guidelines.

Wow! She sounded like she had not been briefed on the topics they would be discussing. I hope Texas buyers, sellers, and real estate agents are smart enough to learn the facts, not go by what Lori "thinks" or "believes". She certainly doesn't sound very sure of herself.
