Code Official 4 position in Southwest, Indiana.

The Code Official 4 is to serve in the Fire and Building Code Enforcement Section of the Fire and Building Safety Division of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. The Code Official performs inspections, interprets and applies the adopted fire and building (structural, fire, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, accessibility, etc.) codes, laws, rules and regulations as they relate to all construction projects and existing class 1 buildings. The Code Official also provides education to contractors, staff, local building officials and local fire officials.

We are seeking an InterNACHI member who possesses specialized knowledge of and ability to interpret the state’s various adopted fire and building (structural, fire, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, accessibility, energy conservation, etc.) laws, codes, rules and regulations, and apply them to plan review or inspection practices. Working knowledge of fire and construction principles, practices, and procedures and the ability to read, understand and evaluate construction plans, specifications and shop drawings for compliance to applicable fire and building codes are essential.
