The offer is still in place and it certainly isn't a "scam."

If you join TAREI, you can join InterNACHI for free for the first year. Still can. The program was designed to help TAREI financially by encouraging association-unaffiliated inspectors in Texas to join TAREI. InterNACHI was only adding a sweetener. The offer is still in place and still being used.

Seems to be working. I happen to know that TAREI picked up a bunch of association-unaffiliated inspectors in Texas, and the due$ that came with them.

Maybe "scam" was to harsh a word. With Nachi members being mislead, what's the nicer way to put it?

What happens to the Nachi members that signed up and have the Tarei dues come up first and pay, then find that they also need to pay Nachi dues?

I have no problem with the whole program other than Nachi members being mislead.

I've thought about joining Tarei and just haven't figured out what the advantages would be. Maybe a Tarei member can explain any additional benefit one could receive that Nachi doesn't already have.

This quote isn't misleading to Nachi members?

The whole thing was a bunch of noise and much ado over basically nothing. It was a waste of time for those Texas NACHI members who were duped into thinking that there was some benefit to them. It was simply another marketing ploy.

It certainly wasn't the unified voice of inspectors in Texas that Nick claimed it would be "The TAREI/InterNACHI Alliance is now the undisputed, unified voice of inspectors in Texas."

The two organizations couldn't even get together to consistently describe what the "alliance" was/was not to their own memberships with conflicting claims and guidance being the norm (see the TAREI mailout above). Imagine how well they represent us before regulatory and legislative bodies?

Exactly what are the two organizations doing to present a "unified" voice in the state of Texas before TREC or the current congressional session?

What are you talking about? The new members of TAREI have sent me many emails thanking InterNACHI for their free first-year's membership. The benefits they received are very real. InterNACHI didn't get a penny. And we helped TAREI (and our industry) by bringing these previously association-unaffiliated inspectors into two associations.

I don't see any inconsistency in my posts. I explained it consistently in post #13, #15, #24, #59, #61, #81, #83, and #91. I can explain it for you a 9th time, but I can't understand it for ya.

You are correct in that the deal didn't benefit you directly, but it didn't benefit members in Miami Florida either. Not everything we do at InterNACHI benefits every member.

You and TAREI have never given consistent guidance on this.

What have you done to correct or stop the misinformation being sent out be the other half of this alliance: TAREI (i.e., that NACHI members should send their renewal to TAREI for ongoing membership in both orgs)?
Quote:
If you are already a current member of both organizations, simply do not renew your interNACHI dues and retain your membership.
What benefit was this to existing NACHI inspectors?

What has this "alliance" done to present a single voice of representation to TREC or the TX legislature?

How exactly are TAREI and NACHI allied going forward?

It's not that you owed us any alliance with TAREI, but you didn't need to blow smoke up our collective asses like this was to be a big deal for members either.

Chuck asks:

No direct benefit initially. As I explained in post #13, #15, #24, #59, #61, #81, #83, and #91 that the offer to provide new TAREI members a free first-year's membership in InterNACHI is for association-unaffiliated inspectors.

However, it IS in your best interest indirectly, over time, to bring these independent inspectors into TAREI and InterNACHI. One of our biggest problem in Texas is that we, as an industry, don't have much political weight due to the small percentage of inspectors in Texas who are members of either association. InterNACHI only has 493 members in Texas. The powers-that-be are much like politicians in that they always want to know how many members we have. 493 is few compared to the number of licensees.

As for your quotes from other people or other staffers from other organizations.... all I can say is that I've written many inspection books, I've written many inspection courses, I've written many inspection video scripts, I've written hundreds of inspection articles, I've written many thousands of letters, I've written tens of thousands of message board posts, and I've written hundreds of thousands of emails, all related to inspections. All in all, I've written over 100 million words for this industry. Let me give you a Texas analogy. Imagine a rancher with 100 million heads of cattle to be responsible for. Would you complain to him about what some other rancher's cattle are doing? If you have a problem with what TAREI's employees wrote, I suggest you contact them. I can only explain and stand by my words.
