Greg, Who do you think makes up the lost profit dollar that results from a wind-mit discount?

The real question here is...

"Does this software have the ability to "overlook" or "under-report" the wind-mit inspections that its creater has botched?

Ahhh...the rat guarding the cheese. This state is like the wild west.

The real entertainment will begin when homeowners that were told by their inspectors ...that 15 minutes (and a few extra bucks) will save them 15% or more on their car insurance, only to discover that their discount has been stripped away.

Apparently more than 60% of them

I am buying a LOAD of popcorn for this event.

Another consideration...

Who do you think will be the sacrificial lamb, and labeled as the source of the errors? The source of the lost discounts? The source of homeowners not being able to afford their insurance any more?

A. A largely divided and weak (and sometimes stupid) HI profession
B. The most powerful lobby on the planet...the insurance industry

Please select one answer only and check your work before turning in your papers.

Thank you Ameripro...may we have another?

This was going to happen anyway, whether it went to Ameripro or another agency. Whether right or wrong, those reports were set up to have a standard. Unfortunately each WCE set their own standard. Putting that aside, the form 1802 is pretty clear cut as to what they want (I know I will get arguments on this). There is is much fraud out there concerning these reports it is not funny. Do you know how many guys are giving credits for straps when there are none. The home inspection industry has done this to themselves and they have no one to blame but themselves. Now we will have to sit back and take the consequences.

True enough, but the biggest losers here will be NE Florida HI's (or any other FL HI market where they have a presence). An inspection company with that kind of financial clout will be source of fee erosion unlike anything seen to date.

Sitting back and waiting for the consequences is what led to this.

Hi Bill,

I have to disagree with you one this one, there certainly has been fraud but I don't believe it has been perpetrated by Home Inspectors. There are many entities out there using unskilled, unchecked evaluators who are signing of known false 1802's under contractor license #'s. My contention has always been that Home Inspectors are way to aware of inspection liabilities to get involved in deliberate fraud, sure some mistakes will have been made, thats inevitable (especially given the vagueness of the 1802 form in some areas, "when is a gable not a gable" for example). I am very sure that the insurance companies will soon recognize that independent Home Inspectors (working through companies performing QA and handling the data) with everything to loose are in fact their best and most reliable option.

Regards

Gerry

Gerry,

I will not argue with that statement. For such a small group we seem to have made the most noise. Not all of that noise has been good.

That Bill is the understatement of the year, most inspectors see the MSFH and other larger contracts as business being taken away from them, I'm here to tell them that we never had a dog in the race. The State and the insurers are just not interested in dealing with 500-1,000 indiviual home inspectors they want and need consistent reporting consistent QA and to be dealing with few entities who can provide that, INACHI's (and other associations failure) is that they are unable to provide that kind of framework.

Hell ask 10 inspectors how to change a lightbulb and you'll get 12 answers and a fist-fight.

Regards

Gerry

And detailed instructions on how to do it safety and properly and with the fewest discrepancies..........and then the opposing comments, discussion and pissin contest will begin. Someone will have been changing light bulbs "all their lives", certified in changing light bulbs, not just residential light bulbs but commercial light bulbs. Hell, someone will have changed the light bulbs on Hoover Dam in the middle of a tornado and a hail storm from the back of a moving Harley Davidson motorcycle.
