I thought you passed the test. It is impossible to eliminate radon from a home. You may be able to reduce the level. The article is wrong.

Thanks for the correction, Brian. Remember, I'm new. Glad to know dress size reduction, cure for male impotence, male pattern baldness, facial rejuvenation, no wrinkles, increased metabolism and long life are still ok though. I would hate to change all my advertising.

Funny thing about radon is that the incidence of lung cancer in the areas where housing levels are the highest is below the per capita average. I don't know why but it is food for thought about that 4pc/l EPA threshold.

Your answer is here....
Why is Radon delegated to the DEP and not the DOH?

What does Homer say when things go wrong? Doh! I got it, there is no scientific study or evidence that radon levels in homes pose a risk or concern to human health therefore the DOH would distance themselves and not take action. The EPA on the other hand is a politically directed entity devoid of scientific reason and acts at the whim of influence from the highest bidder.

The World Health Organization (WHO), the National Academy of Sciences, the US Department of Health and Human Services, as well as EPA, have classified radon as a known human carcinogen, because of the wealth of biological and epidemiological evidence and data showing the connection between exposure to radon and lung cancer in humans.

The science on radon has been formidable over the years, but never before have we had such overwhelming scientific consensus that exposure to elevated levels of radon causes lung cancer in humans. In February of 1998, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) presented the findings of their Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation (BEIR) VI Report: "The Health Effects of Exposure to Indoor Radon." This new report by the NAS is the most definitive accumulation of scientific data on indoor radon. The report confirms that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. and that it is a serious public health problem. The study fully supports U.S. EPA estimates that radon causes about 21,000 lung cancer deaths per year.

It is nonsense John, levels in mines pose a hazard. levels in homes are insignificant to health and the evidence provided by a multitude of studies is that the areas where the levels are elevated show a significant decrease in lung cancer. EPA was bought out by interests that stood to profit.

Personally I believe it has more to do with Radon attaching to other items, like cigarette smoke and then decaying in your lungs. That is one reason why second hand smoke can be really bad for some and not others.

Did you read the BEIR VI report?
World Health Organization (WHO), the National Academy of Sciences, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the State DOH and the Surgeon General all have more knowledge than me.

Why is it that many say there is no radon in our area, but last time I checked 32905, 51% of the homes had a higher than 4pi/l. Somebody is lying. I will check some and let you know.
