I was just wondering if it was something I did.
When my site was new, I guess the search engines couldn't figure which was most relevant.

I have no problem with everything going through the front door. Any search I do hits my site fine, it just happens to be the home page now.

It's all about what google feels is the most relevant page. The more people that link to your home page the more powerful that home page becomes. You could technically have people link to other pages on your site and they would start to show up as well. But since you'r fighting sites that have been around for years it's best to concentrate your efforts. Google also changes their algorithms constantly and does seem to give more credence to the home page, especially with a site that doesn't have that many pages total. My belief is they feel the user can find their way to the page needed.
