Interested in inspecting log homes?

InterNACHI Press Release:

Only four Log Home Inspectors for all of North America listed on the web site of the International Log Builders Association?

Here in Colorado, cities like Aspen and Steamboat Spring have log homes ranging up to 20,000 square feet or more. These huge homes are spectacular and command million dollar prices, but for each monster that sells how many log homes selling at prices closer to the area average are selling at the same time? And no matter what the size or selling price, for the potential buyer there is almost always one question left floating… what condition is the home in?

That question is left floating with log home buyers because there are very few Home Inspectors willing to inspect log homes. Why? Because there are no log wall qualification programs available and with many different styles, building methods and manufacturers products (often with their own specifications) available, the whole business of inspecting log homes seems difficult, complicated and risky.

Risky as it might seem, bear in mind that asbestos is found in over 3000 different materials and products, but people still manage to make good money doing asbestos screenings without winding up in court. They do it by using specific language in their contracts and by educating their clients about what they do and don’t do. They limit expectations.

If you are interested in contributing to the development of a qualification program for inspecting log homes and have experience or expertise in one of the following areas or capacities in the log home industry, please contact me:
Product Vendors, Home Inspectors, Trade Organizations, Building Contractors, Log Home Restoration Specialists, Insurance Providers and Log-home Manufacturers.
