About the book:

Although molds have not commonly been regarded as a danger to human health, approximately one hundred species of mold are toxic and about fifteen are known to cause negative health effects in humans. Symptoms of exposure to mold can include allergic reactions, asthma and chronic cold and flu-like conditions.

Recent media reports about mold infestations in classrooms across the country have alerted the public to the potential heath risks of mold. These incidents involve what has become known as "Sick Building Syndrome" which can lead to “Building Related Illnesses.”

Black Mold Your Health and Your Home systematically demystifies the molds we encounter in our daily lives. Through two hundred pages and five sections, author Richard F. Progovitz provides a comprehensive introduction to mold, how it grows, how it can invade our homes and our bodies, and what to do if a mold problem is suspected.

Richard F. Progovitz is a Certified and registered Mold Inspector and Mold Contractor, and a registered environmental expert witness with over forty years experience in the study of mycology (the science of fungi). He holds two patents, over a dozen inventions, and has published many technical papers in his twenty-five years as a Mechanical Engineer (Retired 2002 - IBM). He has been the President of the Susquehanna Valley Mycological Society for the past eleven years and recently served as the Vice President of the Northeast Mycological Federation. He is an on-call mycologist with the Lourdes Hospital Poison Control Center in New York State.
