USA Cares, 3C Network, and InterNACHI Provide Training to Veterans
Thank you for your interest to train
and certify for a rewarding career as a roofing contractor.
InterNACHI has developed the roofing contractor training courses provided free of charge through USA Cares (www.usacares.org) and 3C Network (www.3C.com). The free training is strictly available to post-9/11 veterans that have applied with USA Cares Jobs for Vets program. If you have not yet applied, the first step is applying at USA Cares link https://www.tfaforms.com/178525.
Contractors enjoy the camaraderie of fellow contractors they work with
and travel to communities in need of restoration after storms. The work
involves sales, inspection and project management – not the physical
labor of the construction itself. The work is gratifying and is
consistently driven by mother nature.
The courses include:
After successful completion of this online video course, the student will be able to use ladders properly and safely.
2. General Roof Inspection
After successful completion of this online video training course, the student will be
able to perform a residential roof inspection and recognize general roof
defects.
3. Wind and Hail Inspection and Roof Replacement
After successful completion of this video course, the student shall be
able to perform a
wind & hail inspection of a residential property. The student will
also learn best practices and procedures as an asphalt shingle roof and
its gutter/downspout system, severely damaged by hail, are torn off and
replaced.
4. Wind and Hail Damage Inspections
After successful completion of this video course, the student shall be
able to properly
inspect and evaluate wind and hail damage on roof coverings and other
property components. The audience for this course includes property
inspectors, independent adjusters,
maintenance personnel, and roofing professionals.
5. Ten Steps to Performing a Roof Inspection
After successful completion of this video course, the student shall be
able to
inspect a roof covering. The student will be able to verify (i) the installation of the roof covering and underlayment follows
common building practices or the general recommendations of most roof
covering manufacturers; and (ii) the installation is such that water intrusion will be prevented.
6. Inspecting Asphalt Shingle Roofs
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have a
good working knowledge of the inspection of asphalt shingle roofs, including
identification of the different types, performance and aging
characteristics, common defects, and wind and hail damage.
7. Inspecting Wood Shingle and Shake Roofs
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have a
good working knowledge of the inspection of wood shingle and shake roofs, including
identification of the different types, performance and aging
characteristics, common defects, and wind and hail damage.
8. Professionalism: Sales, Customer Service and Communication
After successful completion of this course, the student shall be
able to better serve their clients by providing great customer service and using effective
communication. Clients, new and existing, will benefit from the student
taking this course. Clients will come away from their business transaction
with the student feeling that they've treated them fairly
and professionally, and that student sincerely appreciate their business.
9. Roof Inspection Course
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have a good working knowledge of the inspection of various roof covering materials, including identification of covering type, performance and aging characteristic, and defect recognition.
Follow 4 SIMPLE STEPS to get trained and certified
The training is self-paced, online and can take a weekend to a couple
weeks to complete depending on your pace. This will be available through October 3, 2012.
When the final test is
completed for certification, 3C Network member contractors will contact
you about open positions at their respective companies.
STEP 2: Register
with InterNACHI. There you will choose for yourself a USERNAME and PASSWORD. Please write down your user name and password in case you forget. Your registration will be forwarded to USA Cares for verification. Please allow two business days for confirmation of your registration by USA Cares. If you have questions, contact

STEP 3: After receiving confirmation by USA Cares,
return to this page and log into the courses (above) using your username and password.
STEP 4: You must successfully complete all nine training courses (listed above) to become certified with the 3C Network.
That’s
it – once your training and certification is complete, your contact
information is made available to 3C Network member contractors who will
contact you about employment opportunities. Please allow one to two weeks for contact. You decide the next step
pending their offer(s), and you could be on your way to financial freedom
and fun as a roofing contractor.
