If you are going to charge for non-members then how about getting CEU approval for the other organizations.

Jeff, the problem is that with at least one other organization, I believe, we have to pay a substantial amount of money to get the course certified for their CE credits.

So pay the fee and advertise it. The fees paid by the non-members will easily pick up the costs involved. Maybe you will get some folks to attend that might just like what they see and join. Sounds like a win-win situation to me. Why not charge a nominal fee to all attendees and expand on the seminar? Why should NACHI pickup the tab for all of this? Maybe they can spend the money they save on optimizing their website. Maybe the chapter in the area can put on the seminar and raise some money through charging everyone then use the monies received to advertise the chapter and increas awareness in their area. Start thinking.

ps...wish me luck tomorrow for my ice hockey referee re-cert test and skating evaluation. Thanks in advance. XXXOOO

To my Knowledge,

When Joe does these Electrical Seminars, they are excepted by other organizations for CEU's. I will get an answer on this. This is my intention for all classes in this area. To provide education for all HI.

Jeff,

I agree with this part of your statement. However, Joe T. should have this done, not NACHI. Put the ball in **** and others court of acceptance of Training seminars. Let them answer and be responsible to their membership, not us. Good Luck with your ref/skating exam.

John I don't necessarily disagree but I feel for nachi to be recognized not only by other orgs but also by states that require approved CE it would be a plus to nachi to participle with other states and orgs
I have no doubt that Joe T course qualifies for these CE requirements, but the way it appears Joe and others get there fee if 1 or 100 attend, the plus side is that nachi is getting exposure to potential new and often qualified members by offering approved CEs to all ententes that require them
As far as offering free CE to members that great but it's only accepted by this org, If guys have a problem with paying a fee for these valuable continued ed seminars maybe they should look at another line of business
as I look at CE as a necessary cost of doing business

I will get some NACHI credits but I won’t come until you get ASHI credits approved. I need both because I belong to both.

Jeff,

Check with ASHI and see what we have to do to get this excepted. I was told it was. it would benifit you if they would. If they don't then Hmm
what do they do for thier inspectors? I am not trying to bash ASHI just asking a question. This is one thing, why I chose NACHI is thier in this for helping us as inspectors not just for the money.

Hi to all,

Jeff, ASHI will accept your attendance at this seminar for CEU credit, but I see no good reason to apply to use their logo to advertize it. end of story.

Hello Angie:

I teach electrical classes for Home Inspectors and have been teaching for over 30 years. A question came up as to CEUs and if ASHI would recognize the classes I present. I have taught for many groups, including ASHI many years ago. Please review my web site and resume:

Here is the reply I received, and I called and talked to Allison a few minutes ago, and she said for each seminar hour that will give one MRC of ASHI credit.

If advertised it would cost $15.00 per credit.

Joe,

Each credit hour will translate into one MRC.

I was glad to have an opportunity to inquire. I can do this for all of the Home Inspector associations for their approvals too, all I need is a list and I will be happy to do the rest.

Just a minor note though, some associations may call for a membership?

I say this because here in Massachusetts I am a Massachusetts Code Update Provider, and also provide Updates for the MECA 15/6 hour updates for licensed electricians, and was asked to join.

I am an Instructor/Inspector member.

I expect that the seminar in Elmira will be one of the best yet!
