I’d like to personally thank Sean Moore of HomeGauge for donating over 7,000 web-ready images to our upcoming online continuing education program. Thanks Sean!

7,000 images?

I'm not sending 7,000 images. I did send a few of my better ones to Chris, but I'd like more info on what we are looking for here. As I told Chris, I'd like to see some good versus bad setups. Obviously, most of us don't take pictures of the good, preferring the outrageously bad. But in many instances the good can teach us more than merely laughing at the bad.

Hi Russel

yes you’re quite correct it is all too easy just to illustrate the problems and miss out on what a system should look like, especially things like mechanical systems. It is something we will have to address.

Thanks for your input

Russell,

Excellent suggestion!

Gerry, Perhaps you could compile a list of "bad" pictures that you have already acquired and ask the membership for "good" pictures of the same. That way the comparison would be side by side and would greatly benefit all of us, old and new.

I do not yet do the digital camera thing, but as soon as I get my scanner working properly I can send some pictures that way if you are interested.

Hi Ron,

always in need of good quality defects pictures, I would suggest to all members that they upload any pictures to the picture gallery, and please fill in the description box so that the library can be searched for individual topics.

Gerry, do you have a need for any particular photo topics? I have thousands of digital photos but most of them are not cataloged. I’d have to go through them to find some good ones. Just tell me what you need.

I also have many hundreds of photos that were done on film; most of them from electrical fire investigations . There would be some effort and expense involved with having them scanned but fire scene photos can have tremendous impact. These are also the kinds of things that many home inspectors rarely, if ever, have the opportunity to see.

Let me know what you would like. I am picture crazy and take an average of about 60 pictures per inspection. I have some inspections with as little as 30 and then some with as many as 200.

Gerry,

I have promised Nick that I would donate several thousand pictures. They will be in no particular order. Nick mentioned that you have someone to sort through them. I will send them to you soon. My plan is to put them on DVD's. I have been busy and have not had a chance to compile them.

I also gave Nick copies of my Roofing Volume 1 and Electrical Volume 1 CD's. You have my permission to use the photos from them as part of the NACHI on-line training. If you need additional copies of the CD's, I can send them to you.

This really is an excellent suggestion. In EMS we teach that lung sounds should be listened to all the time, even on patients without breathing concerns. This teaches us to recognize what is bad by knowing what is good.
