Effective January 1, 2018,  a new ordinance will require sellers of single-family homes located in the City of Portland to obtain a home energy report, including a home energy score, from a licensed home energy assessor, and disclose the score and the report prior to listing a home publicly for sale.  Home energy performance reports provide information for potential buyers of residential properties. The information contained in the home energy performance report addresses energy use and energy costs related to ownership of a home.

Earth Advantage will be administering the Oregon program and NACHI provides training to become qualified.

  • Implementation of the City of Portland Home Energy Score policy is due to commence on January 1st.  The City of Portland is working to ensure that assessors are trained and available to perform the home energy assessments.  Learn from MacKenzie Winchel of Earth Advantage the steps involved in the onboarding process and timeline for becoming an authorized Portland Home Energy Score program assessor."
  • MacKenzie manages Home Energy Assessor enrollment and quality assurance for the Portland Home Energy Score Program. Prior to working on this program, she managed various aspects for energy scoring programs throughout the US, including energy label development, assessor training, quality assurance and data analysis.  MacKenzie also has a background in New Homes verification and weatherization installation with low-income projects.
