The recessed florescent light fixture was attached to the ceiling grid frame, ( this type of installation is no longer allowed) at least in commercial spaces, The pin on the end of the florescent tube was in contact with the ceiling grid, completing the circuit thru the grid, when I tried to install to the actual fixture it would not light. Yes I know I should not have touched it, but I just needed to know.
