fill gas and low-e coating

Hi,

I got some questions about the gas fills and low-E coating in windows.

  1. Can this kind of low-E coating be applied on plastic, such as liquid crystal polymer?
  2. What are the materials in low-E coating?
  3. besides Krypton, is it OK to use Xenon and get the same efficiency as Krypton?
  4. If Xenon is not the right gas for gas fill, are the reasons such as cost and viscosity?
  5. what is the max. gap between two panes of double-paned window to prevent gas from convective activity? Is the max. gap related to the size of window, like area of window, or volume of space within double panes?
  6. If the heat transfer inside the double-paned window is conduction, Xenon has much lower thermal conductivity than Krypton. Has Xenon ever been considered for gas fill?

Thanks,

Michael

Those certainly are highly detailed, highly technical questions.
