I live in the colder parts of the states. Valparaiso, Indiana. In the winter months, it is not a good idea to open Casement windows because of the seals are not pliable or soft. The cranks could become damaged also trying to close the window tight. Sometimes when having a house full, it does become too warm, so I have to open the back door to get some cool air in.
So as for inspections, how would an inspector address this issue?
Sounds like your seals are bad?? A good quality window should be able to seal properly. Often times the lock on a casement will pull window tight to the seal. If the seals are bad write them up as so.
