Cool inspection, yesterday

The old local Army base, Fort Sheridan, was decommissioned and sold to developers. They left many of the old houses and buildings and rehabbed it. It was both beautiful and tradition on the inside.

Yesterday, I got to inspect one of the houses on Coronels Row, the quarters designated for the Chief of Staff to the base commander. Built in 1890 and rehabbed (gut, with all new stuff) in 1995. Here are some pictures. BTW: The pictures do not do justice to the massive size of these houses.

  1. Front of house.
  2. Picture from 45 degrees of front
  3. Picture looking down “Coronel’s Row”. There were about 20 more such houses running further down for about a mile.
  4. Base commander’s quarters. Patton once lived here.
