**** Is there any way that this wood cabinet door in front of the service panel is code compliant?

Just if it is safe and legal to have a wood door covering the panel
I have seen many designs on the net for wood cabinet doors that cover panels for decoration
No problem if there was a proper dead front behind the wood door…

Be thankful you could get the dead front off. Sometimes it is blocked when they frame it in. Then it’s a problem.
