To House Trap or not to House Trap? That is the question...

I have on many inspections observed the absence of a whole house trap. During training it was taught that a missing whole house trap should be written as a defect. However, I see many reasons why whole house traps could be an issue.

I am wondering what the census is on whole house traps? Do you write missing whole house traps as a defect? should I ignore it? It seems like the majority of my home inspections have this defect written and it causes more concern than the benefit itself.
