The purpose of this class is to:

  • learn how to conduct whole-house air leakage and duct leakage tests with a blower door and a duct tester;
  • calculate the leakage rate of both;
  • confirm or pass/fail the testing, according to International Energy Code Council (IECC) standards; and
  • prepare you for the hands-on certification examination.

With this training and certification, you will be able to conduct third-party testing for Certificates of Occupancy for new and remodeled homes.

Florida is mandating blower door testing for new construction of residential buildings or dwelling units starting July 1, 2017. http://bcapcodes.org/code-status/state/florida/

Pennsylvania addopted it too in 2018 but very little enforcement for blower doors in Philadelphia as of now.
