The Alabama House of Representatives has a proposed bill to establish a Home Inspector Licenses and Practice Committe. The State of Alabama already has license requirement and already adopted legislation to govern Home Inspectors and EIFS Inspectors. But apparently because the Alabama Association of Realtors and the Home Builders Association of Alabama currently have no control over Home Inspectors they have pushed for new legislation. This committee will consist of 9 members. Two Real Estate Brokers, Two Contractors, Two Home Inspectors to be appointed by the home builders association, two members of the public to be appointed by the Governor and One municipal code official. Review the bill below. Alabama Home Inspectors, we need to stop this bill or have it amended so we can regulate our industry not someone that has financial interest in the purchase of the property.
