Chimney flashing photo's needed: brick and stone done correctly

For the Green Building Course I need a couple of good clear photos of brick and stone chimneys flashed correctly. Actually it’s the counter-flashing method of attachment to the chimney that I want to show. Looking for photos rather than illustrations. Any photos used will be credited.

very helpful Carl. Thanks.

Thanks guys, but I’m not looking for how to do it info, just photos from inspectors, especially for stone chimneys, which I almost never see flashed correctly.

Not sure where to begin. I think I have a few close-ups of correct and wrong ones. I won’t be back until Monday. Please feel free to browse my albums here. http://www.rooferscoffeeshop.com/photo_album_list.asp?u=30
There are over 80 of my albums on this page, but the titles might be deceiving at times.
Look at my site to see if anything there can be or use to you.

E-mail any questions, or PM me. A friend from another forum mentioned this thread and hoped I could help. I hope it helps.

I found this and don’t know if it helps or not.

**Roof Flashing | Chimney Flashing **

Flashing is a construction detail used to seal and protects joints in a building from water penetration. The joints created by the intersection of the roof and roof mounted structures and projections, such as parapets, hatches, skylights, chimneys, vent stacks, or towers, are among the most vulnerable areas of roofing systems. They constantly expand and contract in response to changes in humidity and temperature. The greater the number of such projections, the greater the potential for serious leaks. Flashing is used at these intersections to keep rainwater from leaking into the building. It makes joints at these junctions watertight, while at the same time allowing the natural expansion and contraction of materials to continue. It operates on the principle that, in order to penetrate a joint, water must work itself upward against the force of gravity, or in the case of wind-driven rain, would have to follow a tortuous path during which the force of the wind would be dissipated.
