the beams are basically setting on lower notched post. There are two screws visible at top 1/4 of beam attached to the two top post supporting the roof.
The bottom and top post are not connected with any fasteners, at least not visible.
Well… the upside is… they stayed the hell away from the cantilever!!!

While some type of visible fastener would be nice, that attachment would be allowed by our AHJ by use of nails only. .
Those fasteners on the double rim joist look like structural screws. Better fastening would be recommended (check for AHJ approval). I would have a problem with the lack of knee bracing to prevent lateral movement since the support posts for the roof are not continuous to the ground.
