A unfinished garage is attached to a wood sided house via a breeze way. They do not share an attic. The side door from the garage to the breeze way is self closing but also has an opening window. From the breeze way to the house another steel door with an opening window. Because it is attached to the breeze way is that considered living space? Should there be a firewall? I’m thinking it’s not required…Correct me if I’m wrong.

No, not usually, but, most jurisdictions have very specific regulations on breezeways. You may wish to contact your local building dept. for their requirements.
