INSTRUCTOR: Dan McCarthy (dan-mccarthy-commercial-electrical-inspection-training-nachitv.pdf)

what is it?
what’s the correct term to use in your report?

Looks like an Explosion Proof Incandescent Light Fixture. For general purpose industrial, paint spray booth applications,
wet/damp locations, hazardous locations, marine locations.

After taking Part One of the Commercial Electrical Training Video, you will be able to do things like:

  • properly identifying all of the electrical components in this picture (there’s at least a dozen just in this picture alone).

Ahh…your little download did not work for me. Guess you need a specific verson of Adobe to view it.

Ben, is there a place to see the identification of these panels?

Looks like a 480/277 volt configuration to me with the relative transformers for 208V and single phase 120V power.

Hmmm… download works for me and others here testing it. Adobe Reader is a free download from Adobe. Give it another try.

I’d call it a fixture or luminaire.
I would not say “Explosion Proof” as nothing is, nor “Incandescent” as you can not see the buld (could be a CFL buld inside) imho

Peter, I do not have to see the bulb to know when a fixture is designed for explosion proof installation.
They do make fixtures for explosion proof environments, which an HI don’t normally see.

I have built a few Car Dealerships with spray booths and pits.
